Today we launch MODU Steam
Vejle, Denmark - 8 September 2026
In January, MODU will have spent ten years helping industry with valve solutions. As our customer base has grown, something has become clear: there is a closely related market where we can go in and make a concrete difference for the same customers.
Today we launch that next chapter - MODU Steam.
Why steam? Because you asked for it. You wanted valve and steam purchasing in one place. But not only that. Over the past months we have been in dialogue with production sites that run on steam, and we arrived at four problems in the steam industry.
The incentive is skewed. Steam suppliers earn money when their products break. Not if they always break - then you change supplier. But often enough that it gets accepted as an industry standard, and you pay for new products and continuous service costs as a result. Service needs rethinking. Which leads to the next one.
The steam system runs unmonitored 99.73% of the year. Many production sites have their steam system monitored once a year, or once every six months. That means for 99.73% of the year, production does not know whether the steam system is leaking, or by how much. It is an old-fashioned way to approach steam and it is not data-driven - and the report can already be out of date the second it is generated.
“Most plants only have their steam measured once or twice a year. That has to change.”
Niels ValantHead of MODU Steam
Local stock, and support you can reach. When a steam component fails, production should not be waiting on a long lead time from a distant warehouse. The most critical components need to be available locally. So does the technical help when something goes wrong, whether that is on site or on the phone.
Good upgrades wait for the next budget year. Replacing steam components can be a significant investment - one that may not be approved until the next budget year, even when the replacement would help steam costs here and now. So we are looking at financing that lets the upgrades be implemented now rather than later. Other industries have solved this. We intend to introduce it here too.
“Steam components will become smart in the near future. Great products, fast technical support, fast delivery and a better TCO never go out of date.”
